Everything else is going well, but having such a big break from blogging has made me feel a bit weird...like there's too much to catch up on, so I don't know where to start! I feel like if I don't jump back in soon I never will, so here's a little selection of what I've been up to...
gazing lovingly at vintage goodies at our local monthly Vintage and Flea market...
at which I met the lovely Bristol based maker Alice Rose Lewis, whose work I was not at all surprised to discover has been featured on one of my favourite blogs, Kickcan and Conkers. She was selling a few of her lovely stitched creations, I think I should have bought one for Rufus's birthday, but I couldn't decide which one! These were some of her early works, she's got some amazing more recent pieces in her Etsy shop.
I've enjoyed R being big enough to want to join in when M is dressing up for parties...
And as my flu thankfully subsided we managed a birthday treat for R, a magical evening in the woods with storytelling and aerial acrobatics...
There, I feel much better now! Thank you for all your lovely comments while I've been quiet, they have all been read and appreciated, and I have still been reading your lovely blogs and leaving the odd comment. Someone was asking me about blogging the other day, I was feeling a bit flat about not having posted for a while. As I started to answer her questions I realised again how much I love having this space to share, and how supported I feel by all of you who take the time to pop in and read my ramblings. It is a special place, this blogland, and I'm so very glad to occupy my little corner of it and have you all for my neighbours!
Rachel xx
And I'm glad that I've bumped into your lovely blog Rachel!! Sorry to hear you became really poorly and had to cancelRufus' party. Wow, I love your pictures and the vintage items you've spotted. Remember to eat lots of fruit and extra Vit C and before you know it you're your young self again!! Have a lovely week! x
ReplyDeleteThanks Chantal, yes Vit C is amazing stuff, I have been taking more than usual and I'm sure it's helping. Lots of ginger and honey too! Sorry I forgot to put a Floyd update in, I'm sure you'll be glad to know that he's well and we're loving having him around, I must remember to take my camera next time we take him out for a walk! Have a great week lovely blog friend! xxx
DeleteAww good to hear little Floyd's doing well. I'll never get bored of a Floyd picture or two, three, four.... ;)
ReplyDeleteWe took our Bo to the vet's the other day to clean his teeth and he ended up with two teeth less, poor thing. Well, he's got amazing breath now, that's for sure, haha... X
Oh no, poor Bo! I had to clip Floyd's claws the other day for the first time, just getting used to all these extra jobs! I love brushing him in the evenings though, when he's all sleepy and cuddly - he ends up very silky after an evening on the sofa with me! xx
DeleteGlad you are feeling better. Something like that can wipe you out and leave you feeling a bit down so take care and be kind to yourself! Xx
ReplyDeleteThanks love, yes I have been feeling a bit flat, taking time out for myself where I can and not expecting too much - so glad it;s half term now, so we can all have a much needed rest and a few pyjama days! xx
DeleteSo glad you are feeling better Rachel ... it is lovely to see you back ... I love to see your posts pop up in my reader ... that coffee set is amazing ... I am a little jealous ... we never seem to have as many decent fairs over here ... oh well ... I suppose it makes the treasure all the more special when it does cross my path ... have a lovely week and enjoy this lovely weather we're having lately ... Bee xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Bee, it's so nice to think that you're pleased to see my posts...this blogging lark is a strange and lovely thing isn't it?! I loved so many ceramic things at this fair, I couldn't choose any one thing, so didn't buy anything! It is a great fair but not cheap, I love a bargain so I try not to get carried away. Glad you've been having lovely weather, it's been really grey here but fingers crossed for some bright crisp autumn days so can enjoy some woodland walks with Floyd and the boys! Hope you're having a good week. xx
DeleteWish hope you soon get your strength back Rachel, no fun with little ones to look after! Thanks for sharing those delicious photos, I really like that coffee set! Ada :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Ada, yes having little ones to look after always makes illness and recovery take longer and feel like harder work, but wouldn't be without them of course! Isn't the coffee set beautiful? Not sure how I managed to resist it really, apart from the fact that I really don't need it...but that doesn't always stop me! xx
DeleteWelcome back Rachel! Sorry to hear you haven't been well. Hope you get back to your full strength soon but take it easy - flu can take a while to get over.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful designer Alice is! Thanks for sharing! And your photos are lovely. I love the cups with the blue birds on.
Jo :-) x

Hi Jo, and thanks for the welcome back - it's nice to have found my blogging mojo again after feeling so rough! Glad you like Alice's work, she's a lovely person too. The bird cups are a design called Acapulco, by Villeroy and Bosch - I have one tiny bowl in this pattern, it's one of my all time favourites but it never goes cheap! Hope you're well and having a good week! xx
DeleteGreat to have you back Rachel, glad your feeling better. I love the coffee set with the birds on and your magical evening in the woods looks like great fun. xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Caroline, it's great to be back and feeling less exhausted! That china pattern is so lovely and colourful, if I was better off I'd have loads of it! It was an amazing night in the woods - the combination of darkness, fire, storytelling and acrobatics made for a pretty magical experience! xx
DeleteDiscombobulated ... love that word, but sorry you've been feeling that way. Know what you mean about a blogging absence and trying to catch up. It took me days to feel "all caught up" after being on hols for a week : -) Wish I'd been at your vintage flea market, I think a couple of things may have come home with me.
ReplyDeleteI love that word too! Sometimes it's the only word that describes how I feel, glad to say I've recovered now! It's a brilliant market, and only 5 minutes from my house - dangerous though, so much vintage goodness all under one roof - so much temptation! Hope you're having a lovely week. xx
DeleteWelcome back and hello,
ReplyDeleteI too love those coffee cups...
The fairy woods evening well..there are no words how awe inspiring...
Bestest wishes
Daisy J
Hello to you too Miss Jones, and thanks for the lovely welcome back! Glad you like my finds and enjoyed hearing about our woodland adventure, it was a special, atmospheric evening. Best wishes to you, Rachel xx
DeleteHurray to being back! And what pretty treasures you spied at the market. I want all of them! Hazel x
ReplyDeleteHello lovely!! Oh it was a pretty display, so glad I took my camera and could 'collect' a few images instead of having to buy the actual things - there's only so much prettiness I can cram onto my shelves! xx
DeleteAh Rachel, I've never met you but you seem just so lovely, you really do. If we ever found ourselves in the same city and the same time I'd love to have a cup of tea with you.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the blogging breaks, sometimes I need them, but sometimes I feel like I'm being left behind! But your blog is always a delight and that vintage and flea market looks incredible. x
Oh Gillian thank you for your lovely comment, it brought a little tear to my eye (I'm a soppy bugger like that)! Do let me know if you're ever heading down this way, and I'll do the same - I'd love to meet up and have a cup of tea and a chat in person!
DeleteI'm so gratified that you enjoy my blog, I love yours too - it's important to have a break when we need them, but it's great to come back and share with lovely blogging friends like you! xx
Glad you're feeling better that sounds like a nasty bout of flu. I've just seen your pup! What a handsome chap, you lucky things and I love the name too x
ReplyDeleteHi Flora, yes it was vile but I'm all better now, hurrah! Floyd is an absolute delight, it is extra work but totally worth it. Everyone seems to love the name, which is nice cause I chose it. He's from Wales and he's grey, it's a Welsh name that means 'grey haired' so there couldn't really be any debate! Hope your lovely cats are settling into their shed nicely. x
DeleteHello fellow blog schooler! Thanks for popping by my blog. Can I say dirdyly that I LOVE your blog header. It I fantastic. Did you draw it? Wish I had skills in that area, currently trying to come up with something interesting...also love those vintage market finds. Exactly my taste in crockery. Look forward to getting to nose through your archives. See you in class!
ReplyDeleteWell hello Ms George, nice to see you here! And thanks, I'm glad you like my header - it took me a looong time to get around to designing it, the images are scanned from a piece of vintage fabric from my collection, and then were cleaned up in Photoshop by a helpful friend. I then played around with them in Picmonkey where I added the frame and text. Hope you enjoy nosing through my past posts! xx
