an exciting day...

What a start to December! Yesterday I went to the Vintage and Handmade Fair in Chipping Sodbury, a little market town near Bristol.  There were lots of lovely stalls selling all kinds of gorgeous bits and pieces...

on the Country Cottage Chic stall there were vintage Christmas tree decorations...

lovely toys and books...

and I loved this elephant from a set of vintage wooden circus toys!

There was also a huge stall run by the lovely Lizzie Van Hasselt with all kinds of amazing vintage loveliness...
stunning french fabrics...
and buttons...
a very special pair of gold party shoes!...
and all so beautifully styled.

I also met the lovely Woo of The Devil Makes work, but do you know - we were so busy chatting I forgot to take any photos of her beautiful stall!  Sorry Woo!

Obviously I love vintage fairs wherever they are, but the main reason for going to this particular one was that I knew the lovely Donna Flower was selling some of her vintage goodies there, and I wanted to have a look at her fabrics in person, and of course meet the lady herself.  I follow Donna's blog and I had left a comment telling her I was planning to go...little did I know she would bring some really special fabrics just for me to look at!  But the sun is shining and we're off out for a walk, so you will have to wait until tomorrow to see if I bought anything....

Hope you have a lovely sunny Sunday!

    1. There was quite a lot of lovely Christmas stuff there Chantal - if you don't manage to get anything in The Netherlands this year then maybe next year I'll have to go vintage hunting for you over here! Hope you had a lovely Sunday. xx

    2. That's really sweet, thanks! :) On Wednesday here in The Netherlands we have this Dutch festivity named Sinterklaas, a bit like Father Christmas but not quite, hahaha.. Maybe you've heard of him before. He's this old man as well and always brings lots of helpers named Zwarte Pieten. But to cut a long story short, after that there's no stopping me and I'll start to decorate our home all Christmassy. My sweetheart only needs to work for two more days and then he's got an extra long holiday, nearly four weeks. No need to say I'm sooooo looking forward to that! :D Enjoy the new week Rach! X

    1. It was a lovely fair Gillian - I don't know much about Leeds but I know the Vintage Village events in Stockport are supposed to be great - maybe a daytrip is in order in the New Year? I've got family in Manchester - I'll let you know next time I'm up visiting and maybe we could wander round together - would be so much fun to meet up! And I know all about lost treasures - I remember and an amazing 70s patchwork that my Mum made that used to be on my bed - I've never seen fabric like that again - despite A LOT of looking! xx

    1. I know, I'm terrible - but to be honest the teasing is more down to not having had time to take photos - I promise as soon as I get a chance tomorrow pics will be taken, uploaded and blogged! Thank you for your patience! xx

    1. The buttons were so tempting Bee! But I just had to remind myself about the two big tins full that I have at home...it helped that by the time I'd got to that stall I'd already spent all my money on...ooops nearly gave it away! x

  6. "Chipping Sodbury" you can't imagine how much I love hearing the names of places in England. My Dad holidayed at Bognor Regis as a child. I don't know why but the names just tickle me!

    1. Hi I'm so sorry I meant to reply to this comment but got distracted by children or the puppy and forgot to get back to you. I love the name Chipping Sodbury...I lived in London as a child and when I first moved to the West Country I found a lot of the place names hilarious but especially that one! Bognor Regis is a great one too...one of my favourite things about travelling in the UK is reading maps and looking for funny place names...we have Satnav now but I still read maps just for fun! xx

    1. Isn't he lovely? If I could have bought just him I would have...but he was part of a set which was gorgeous but I'd spent a fair bit (ahem) on fabric already so I had to leave him and his friends behind...x

    1. You would rock those shoes Hazel! They were amazing, and in great condition considering they must have done a fair bit of twirling in their time! xx
