late but bearing exciting news...

Aaargh where have the last 2 days gone?!  In my case they seem to have passed in a blur of tantrums and tears...I don't know what's got into my kids...but I'm not impressed!  I am exhausted though.  The energy it takes to stay calm and rational while being screamed at is quite phenomenal...I have a million things to do and no energy left to do any of it with...I give up.

Tonight I'm getting an early night in the hopes that I will then have enough energy to spend the next 2 nights sewing till late.  In the meantime, later than planned but here at last, is another of the lovely pieces of fabric I got from the delightful Donna Flower last weekend...

I don't know if it's because I've got young children but I really love prints like this...bright and fun and similar in style to a lot of picture book illustrations from the 60s and 70s.  I'll be making Rufus a cushion cover with some of it, and the rest will join the childrens section of my stash cupboard!

Before I go I would just like to tell you what I'm up to next week...you may already know...I am doing my first ever spot of guest blogging over on the lovely Modflowers blog!!  She's whisking off to a hot & sunny Christmas in Australia, and me and some of my favourite bloggers will be taking turns to keep her beautiful blog ticking over in her absence.

I just hope my kids give the tantrums a rest otherwise I might be a bit bonkers by then...fingers crossed.

Hope you're having a lovely relaxing week with no kicking and screaming!

  1. I hope you get the rest you need Rachel ... my two boys are really irritable at the minute too ... I think it's all the excitement of Christmas, practising for the school concert and being cooped up because of the woeful weather ... I find my voice rising to a crescendo on a regular basis lately ... at least my littlest seems to be oblivious to it all ... she's behaving like a little angel ... now I've jinxed it, I'm sure :) ... sleep well lovely ... Bee xx

    1. Thanks Bee - I know it's mainly tiredness with Max, but Rufus has definitely reached the age where he pushes me just to find out what my limits are - and after 2 or 3 tantrums in one day it starts to get a bit wearing! The early night did me the world of good - despite |Rufus waking up and shouting at me at midnight!

Nice to see that you are joining me over at Modflowers - yay to guest blogging! xx

    1. Hi Ada - Max seems to be starting early on the teenage behaviour - though I'm sure it'll get much worse - good luck getting through that tunnel! They're both lovely boys but they do know how to push my buttons. I'm looking forward to the Christmas holidays, sure they will be fine after a couple of duvet days.

And yes didn't Donna do well?! x

  3. Great fabric and it will make a fantastic cushion. It kind of reminds me of Play School (the tv programme), isn't that girl pushing the pram like Jemima? Or have I got the names muddled/wrong? Extreme memory loss today! x

    1. Hi Caroline! Yes you know me and bright colours - though my pictures were a bit dark so I fiddles with them in Picmonkey and I think I overdid it with the one of the soldier on the rocking horse!

I'm very excited and flattered that Modflowers asked me to guest on her blog - I just hope people enjoy my posts - didn't think I could go far wrong if I kept to the theme of vintage fabric! xx

    1. You're right Sarah, it's a hard time of year to be a kid - so much excitement but all the goodies tantalisingly out of reach - roll on the 25th! xx

  6. Ah - lovely fabrico Rachel. I have a pair of curtains that are made from this fabric - well I say curtains they were actually from a children's hospital and were used to go around the bed! If I were a visitor I may have taken a very big bag at visiting time!! Seeing this has prompted me to get out some children's fabrics and gaze at them for a while.. Sooty, Noddy, Magic Roundabout - you can relive your childhood just through fabrics!
Thank you for dropping by Rachel and your kind words - life is racing by and all a bit of a whirlwind sometimes AND Christmas on top! Yikes
    Keep warm
    Best wishes

    1. Oh Jenny I can only imagine the fabulousness of your children's fabric collection!! I have a particular soft spot for Miffy, and I really msut treat myself to a bit of Magic Roundabout fabric one day...it was a real favourite of mine when I was little.

Life is indeed a whirlwind - I hope you're not feeling too windswept! Hopefully we will all have time to stop and relax over Christmas - just got to get ready for it first!

      Take care lovely lady.
