I fell off the edge of the earth...

...and landed in a big pile of fabric!  No I haven't really disappeared off the map, though blogging-wise I might as well have.  It's been too long!

Things have gone a bit crazy over on my facebook page, where I recently announced a plan to sell some packs of fabric squares for patchwork & quilting, and I was inundated with enquiries and orders.  I've spent the last week using every spare minute to cut fabric, I had thought I'd cut enough to have a few spare packs for future orders (for instance, in case any of you lovely lot wanted one) but people just kept asking for them, and if everyone who asked for one confirms their order (most already have) then I'm all sold out!  

I will cut more in future and I think next time I will announce it first here, I feel bad that my lovely bloggy friends have missed out...sorry, it wasn't intentional!

So, I've finally finished, though I wish I'd cut a few extra - I think I could have sold them twice over!  I'm sure I'll do it again soon, but my cutting arm is tired out so not for a while.  And some of the fabrics that I've included are now running out, so will be going into my personal stash, which means I'll have to buy more fabric for next time - what a hardship!

summer blooms...

Happy weekend everybody!! Hope you've had a great week, the sun has shone and we're now settled back into being at home.  The kids are driving me crackers at times but I try to take a deep breath and smile despite the squabbles and tantrums, me and R will miss M when he's back at school so I don't want to wish away this precious time with him. 

The sunshine means we are spending as much time as we can in our little garden, our nasturtiums are taking over but are being thoroughly munched by caterpillars, which is fine by me - there's plenty to go round and they'll be butterflies soon, I like to let nature do it's thing without too much interference. 

One of our favourite trips of our holiday was to Trengwainton Gardens, a National Trust property not far from Penzance.  It was really stunning, with giant Tree Ferns and a stream running through it, the planting was just beautiful.  I got a bit carried away with taking close ups of flowers, I love them so!

 

Obviously I could not resist the urge to put them in rainbow order!  I hope you have a lovely weekend, whatever you do - we don't have anything planned, but I'm sure we'll be out in the sunshine somewhere before long.

one of the reasons...

that I've been so lazy about blogging this week...

 

I woke up in sewing mode the other day, and didn't want to stop till I was finished...I still need to sew a backing on it, I'm thinking fleece for speed and ease, so that I can get on with the next one!  I've got a friend who's due to give birth any day now, so I want to get a lovely vintage fabric cot blanket made this weekend.

I am really pleased with it, it is not perfect but I have learnt loads in the process of making it. The fabrics are all vintage, and are pretty special - Heals, Marimekko, Graziela, Conran, Dekoplus, Tampella, Boras,scandinavian, barkcloth... the result of 2 years of slightly obsessive collecting (oh dear, I'm such a fabric geek!)!  I'll show you how it looks when it's finished, and hopefully the next one will be in progress soon.

more vintage loveliness!

As promised, here's a few pics from the Vintage market last Sunday - I'm trying to be careful with the cash at the moment (after getting a tad carried away earlier in the year - damn you, Ebay!) so I was actually quite glad that I didn't see anything that made my heart flutter.  

There was enough prettiness there to be a treat for the eyes though, my favourite stall was called Vintage Village, which has a permanent base at Lye Cross Farm Shop, Redhill in Somerset.  I stupidly didn't ask the name of the lovely woman behind the stall, and I wish I'd taken a pic of her daughter too, who was wearing the most fabulous 70s jumpsuit ever - a totally vintage loving family! Here's a bit of eye candy from her stall...

some pretty patterns (none of them cotton, thank goodness - I only buy natural fibres!)...

some nice china bits and pieces, I was particularly taken with the green Staffordshire mugs...

this lovely little basket was in mint condition, and beautifully co-ordinated with the doll's dress...

and lastly, I am kicking myself for not buying this 7" just for its' sleeve - what was I thinking?!

I definitely took my economising too far there, and I just know that I'll end up vainly looking for it next month!  Ah well, I just have to accept that I can't buy everything with a rainbow on it, even this little gem found on Etsy by the lovely Lou and included in her latest treasury....imagine playing a rainbow record on a rainbow record player!

my first treasury

Hello, hope you're having a nice Easter!
