I feel lucky, oh so lucky...

Hello, and happy Saturday!  The sun is shining, the sky is blue; I love these bright, crisp autumn mornings.  We're off for a walk along the harbourside in a bit, it'll be lovely to get out in the fresh air.

It's been a funny week, lots of busyness getting ready for the arrival of Floyd next weekend, and lots of germs being brought home from school...R has a rotten cold and M hasn't been feeling great either,  though I think he's mainly just tired from getting back into the school routine.

One of the most lovely things that happened to me this week was the arrival of a parcel for me...I won another giveaway, over at The Custards...

Jenny had made 3 beautiful purses, and I had put my name 'in the hat' for this one...and I won, yippee!!  Isn't it gorgeous?!

And being the lovely person that she is, she had put a few extra goodies inside....

It took superhuman effort to take photos before unwrapping the parcel...

to reveal such fabulous vintage goodness inside....

2 lovely hankies, a lovely soft linen place mat, a gorgeous pillowcase, and a vintage children's book!  That Jenny knows how to do a giveaway, it felt like Christmas!

So huge thanks to her for cheering up my week no end, if you're not familiar with her blog (but surely you must be?!) do pop over and have a look, but please don't 'pin' any of her images onto Pinterest if you're a 'pinner', she very politely requests that her images stay just on her blog where she chose to put them.

I hope you have a lovely weekend, wherever you are and whatever you're doing!

50th Follower giveaway!

Hi, I have been having a busy week so took a bit of time out of blog world - well, I've been checking in with people and replying to comments but haven't felt inspired to post anything new.

Meanwhile new lovely people have been finding my little blog (welcome!) and joining me for the journey, and here I am at 49 followers - which may not seem that many in the great scheme of blog type things but it feels significant and very heartwarming to me, so thanks!

I mentioned a while ago (when I went through my little winning streak) that I would do a giveaway when I got to 50 followers, so here we are:

Whoever clicks that 'follow' button next will get a little something pretty, and anyone who follows me can leave me a little comment below to get your name into...what shall I use? A lovely 60s jar? Or a gorgeous 70s pillowcase?  I haven't decided yet!  Whatever I use, if your name is chosen, you will win a rainbow of stunning, colourful, bold 60s and 70s fabric, including pieces of some of these...

Feel free to share news of these treats over on your own blog for an extra chance to win, and you can have another chance if you 'like' my Rainbow Vintage Home facebook page

Update!: Doh, you can tell I haven't done a giveaway before huh? Got to bed last night and realised I'd forgotten 2 important little details -
1. The closing date for entries is Monday 14th May, and I will choose a winner on Tuesday 15th.
2. You must leave a comment on this blog to enter; and please let me know if you are entitled to 1, 2 or 3 chances (1 for following my blog, 2 for sharing on your own blog or liking the facebook page, 3 for doing all 3).

Next time I have a giveaway (100 followers here I come!) I will plan it a bit better and not write the post late at night.  Also I was feeling very sad about the news that MCA (Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys) has died, so that's my excuse for being a tad forgetful about little things like closing dates. RIP MCA, 47 is way too young. x

Hope you have a lovely weekend people, it's not raining here, I'm very excited about the prospect of actually getting my boys out of the house!

what a week - peacocks and sunshine...

Wow what a week, a bit non-stop but pretty much all good thankfully.  Unbelievably I have won another treat, only a day after winning these!

Bristol artist Rebekah Leigh Marshall had a giveaway on her Facebook page, and I was the third name out of 3 pulled out of her hat - I got to choose a print, and I have chosen this (with input from F, who has to live with a lot of things of mine that he wouldn't choose, so I thought it fair to involve him in the decision for once!) ...

Isn't it beautiful?! Go and check out her Etsy shop if you haven't seen her work before, it's got some gorgeous prints and cards in it.

And now the lovely Lou has given me a Sunshine Award, which involved answering the following questions and passing them on to another 5 fabulous sunshiney bloggers:

Colour: The point where blue and green meet, variously called teal, turquoise, or aqua depending on the tone -
although I'm currently very keen on yellow!
Animal: Cat or bird, depending on my mood - cat for lazing about, bird for freedom (& nest building!)
Non-Alcoholic drink:  Strong coffee in the morning, Earl Grey tea in the afternoon
Facebook or Twitter:   Facebook cause I have a lot of friends who live far away. I have never tweeted, don't think
I would know how (or why!).
Getting or giving presents:  Giving, I love choosing just the right thing for someone. When it comes to getting, I
prefer to choose for myself cause I'm such a control freak - isn't that awful?!
Flower: Apple blossom
Pattern: bold 60s floral, geometric, spots, stripes - very hard to choose this one!!
Passion: colour & kids, fabric & family, pattern & parenting - variations on a theme!
Number: 5 (same as Lou, another thing we've got in common along with mid-century mania!)

As you can see I am no good at choosing one thing when 2 or 3 will do! and now I pass these questions onto....

Caroline, Siane, Jo, Karen and Jenny

I don't know any of you lovely ladies well, having met over t'internet through enjoying each others' blogs, so I'll be interested to see what you all answer, and who you link to next...

Hope it's sunny where you are, thanks for stopping by!
