a day at the seaside...

Happy rainy Monday to you!  You wouldn't know it by looking out of my window right now (it hasn't stopped raining all bloody day!!), but yesterday afternoon the sun shone and the wind blew and we piled into the car for a few hours of blustery seaside fun....

M modelling Mummy's shades...
I did the balancing, M added the face...
more rock balancing...
and more...this one looks impossible from this angle!
and then the boys chased each other around like lunatics for a bit before we came home...
a lovely family day, no squabbles or tears.  Nice and relaxing after the craziness of M's party the day before, which went very well but left me and F in dire need of a stiff drink!

So I'd like to put a request in to the universe - more sunshine please!  I can cope with rain while the kids are still at school, but in 2 and a half weeks the summer holidays will be here, and I would like to spend them doing more of this kind of thing, rather than endless days of lego in pyjamas (which I love, but that's what we do all winter!).

What did you get up to at the weekend? I hope it was fun whatever it was!

    1. Thanks Col! Yes my theory is that the more it rains now, the less it will rain during the holidays - complete nonsense I know but it's good to be optimistic! Hope all's going well with you and your lovely Etsy shop! xx

    1. Yes I suppose they are! I like the challenge of trying to balance rocks that don't look like they'll stay up - it's amazing how many times they collapsed before I managed to get these to balance!

    1. I love those shades so much - would you believe I picked them up from a car boot sale for 50p? A great buy, and I've managed not to lose or break them since last summer, a pretty major achievement for me! And yes the sun was shining, though it's hard to believe today! xx

  5. I love the seaside! Looks like you had a great day, I know what you mean about the weather, I think the children have had a raw deal so far with their holiday weather, let's hope the summer hols are much better! Ada :)

    1. We did have a great day, but yes the sunshine is feeling pretty rare at the moment!. Apparently this weather is set to stay for a while, I am in denial about that! Will be keeping a bag packed with picnic blanket, sun hats and sun cream by the door so we can run out and make the most of any sunny moments! xx

    2. I have been in and out like a yo yo today, every time the sun came out I dragged my chair out, then it rained, back in, out came the sun, back out went me and my chair! I felt quite dizzy! Trying to keep my vitamin d levels up, it's exhausting! Anyway, I have tried to send you a 'private message' but not sure how it works. I have something for you! Ada :)

    1. We are definitely owed some serious rays Caroline, if there was any justice (which unfortunately I suspect there isn't) we should get 6 solid weeks of sunshine as soon as the schools break up. Yes the rock towers were fun, Frank and Max spent most of their time chucking rocks in the sea, but I love the balancing! xx

  7. Looks like you had fab weather! We've just got back from a very rainy trip to Peppa Pig World. But at least the rain meant the place was practically empty except for a handful of hardcore Peppa Pig fans who didn't give a damn about having wet bottoms. We just kept on partying.
My mum told me that they've said this weather is here for weeks yet. Expect nothing of July. Blame the Gulf Stream or some such mysterious force of nature. Although who knows, let's not give up hope. I have summery plans that I will not give up on. Keep the picnic blankets on stand-by. X

    1. We were really lucky Anna, it had rained all morning but we just waited and went out as soon as it stopped - luckily Clevedon is only about half an hour away so it doesn't have to be an all day expedition! Well done for making the most of Peppa Pig World, you're a braver woman than me! Yes I've just been told we're in for at least 8 weeks more rain, but like you I'm not giving up on summer - just accepting that it's going to be in bite size chunks sandwiched between big wet slabs of rain. x

  8. We went window shopping in a camping shop (because playing in tents is fun, free and- crucially- inside!) We're due to go to a festival with the children in just a few weeks' time... Please oh please oh please let it be not raining by then!

    1. I love going to play in tent shops - in fact I think we might just go and do that instead of actually camping this year! No, I am full of hope for the summer holidays, and if it's going to be sunny at all I hope it's when you're at your festival, and when we're in Cornwall! fingers crossed for sunshine! x

  9. Thoroughly agree about the weather - cheesed off with it! We were camping in the New Forest with a about 20 other families - it is a yearly get together with lots live music and a large camp fire. This year the theme was 70s disco so there was lots of glamping going on! Weather held off in the evening but it was very cold!! Love the sunglasses
