Hello, and happy sunny day to anyone who reads this!
If you are a facebook friend of mine you might have noticed that I occasionally (ahem) pin something onto a board on something called Pinterest. You might also be a fan, in which case apologies for telling you what you already know, but for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, Pinterest is a way of building an online collection of images (and video, but I'm not even going there!), and sharing images with other people. These are links to a few of the 'boards' that I've been filling with lovely things this week (please click on the text not the image)...
all of the above images, indeed most of the images on my boards, I have found through Pinterest itself, though I have also uploaded some images of my own and linked to some from other online sources.
as you can see it has some wonderful inspiring stuff on it, and for anyone interested in design, or in developing an online identity (sorry, I hate the word 'brand'!) in order make contact with other creative people and/or potential customers, it is a lovely place to spend a few minutes each day. however, if is also alarmingly easy to spend a few hours there if you have them to spare, so my recommendation comes with a warning - only join if you have good self discipline, or a lot of time on your hands! I'm not very rich in either, so today is a test of my self control - I have some spare time now, but I also have a messy house and lots of fabric waiting to be turned into lovely cushion covers, so I will not be doing any pinning for a few hours....
have a lovely day. Rachel xx
I have a love-hate-relationship to bright colours and patterns. Some days I love it, and other days I need 'peace and quiet'. Your pinterest is impressive, I never seem to find the time.
ReplyDeleteWhat I do love, is your new photograph. It must be you, a true child of the 70s :)
Lilli
Hi Lilli, yes that's me, about 5 years old, in the commune in London where I lived for a while (we moved around a lot). Glad you like the photo, I prefer it to most of the more recent ones we've got!
DeleteI know what you mean about bright colours, I think when I need peace and quiet I turn the computer off and go for a walk - or maybe go and spend some time reading your lovely blog! Your photos have a sense of beautiful stillness. I had a few days of Pinterest obsession, but it's calmed down a bit...for now at least!:)
Rachel
Hooray I have a moment to sit down and check out your vintage loveliness, life is so incredibly busy sometimes isn't it! Loving this new blog alter ego life that we're both creating. :-)
ReplyDeleteme too! it's a lot of fun collecting inspiration in one place, but as I know you find too, there's not always a lot of time for indulging this creative side of us - what with our little monkeys to run around after! x
DeleteI like your blog and want to follow you:) I'm mad about coloursand patterns from the 70's:)
ReplyDeleteTrine:)
Hi Trine, welcome and thanks for your message - you have taken my number of followers up to the magic number 10! I will be sharing lots of lovely 70s patterns from my fabric collection, I'm glad you'll be here to see them! :) Rachel
DeleteYip! Colour and pattern!!! And look how many followers too! xx
ReplyDeletehee hee I'm having so much fun on Pinterest, though I'm not quite as obsessed as I was last week, thank goodness! and yes I know, 10 followers, well I notice 11 now, though isn't it cheating to count you twice?! very pleased, this blogging lark is lovely. xx
