No, I'm not pregnant...2 kids is enough for me. But as an alternative to a 3rd child, we have decided to get a puppy! We thought long and hard about breeds, and did a lot of research about how to choose a puppy, and then we went and met this little fellow....
This was taken when we met him at 2 weeks old, we saw him with his Mum, Dad and 7 siblings, and something about him just melted our hearts. Last Sunday we went back to visit him, and take him a toy which we can bring with him when he comes home. He is now 6 weeks old....
Yikes, is it possible to be any cuter?! We have named him Floyd. As you can probably see, F is totally smitten. Well, we all are! People keep telling me it's basically as much work as having a baby, which is quite daunting, but after seeing a house with 8 puppies, 2 adult dogs and 2 cats, I think 1 puppy will seem like a doddle! We'll see if I'm right in 2 weeks, when we bring him home...
Hope you're having a great week!
Rachel x
Too cute! :) x
ReplyDeleteI know! I squeal every time I look at these pictures...x
DeleteOH MY GOSH!!!!! How cute! And I love the name Floyd! Congrats on your new little sweet man! It's a cutie pie for sure!! X
ReplyDeleteHi Chantal, glad you like the name, he is indeed a cutie pie! Hope you're having a great week, feeling lovely and crisp and autumnal here, hooray! xx
DeleteSuperb name and what a honey. I'd love a dog, but we have a very old scaredy cat to deal with here so she'd not be happy with a puppy! I'm very jealous. Floyd will be a fantastic addition to your family. x
ReplyDeleteOh no Jen, your cat would certainly not be impressed if you shook up her cosy existence with a bouncy little puppy! We've never had dogs, we used to have 2 much loved cats but they were so unimpressed when Max came along and we moved house that they rehomed themselves - so fickle! It will be a learning curve but we are ready for the challenge (I hope!) - it helps that he's so damned cute! x
DeleteWhat a cutie ... bet you all can't wait to have him home with you ... love the name ... what breed is he? ... Bee xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Bee, he's a miniature Schnauzer, so he'll never get too big. We chose the breed cause they're intelligent and easy to train, and they don't moult, and they're good with kids. And they're super cute! xxx
DeleteAw, he's adorable!

Thanks Claire! xx
DeleteVery good choice of name, my cat was called Floyd (and he was a strange pink colour too) and what a sweetie, bet the boys are bursting having to wait for two more weeks...
ReplyDeleteGlad you like the name Mel, it was on my list when we were choosing names for Rufus, but Frank vetoed it. But this time he had to say yes - it's a Welsh name and it means grey haired - Floyd has grey hair and he was born in Wales, so it was too perfect! Yes the boys are ready to explode with excitement, Rufus's most-used phrase at the mo is 'I can't wait till we get Floyd!' x
DeleteHe's soooo cute, what a great addition to the family! Ada :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Ada, yes it will be lovely watching him grow up with the boys - we can't wait for all those lovely walks in the woods with Floyd running along with us! x
DeleteSweet!!
ReplyDeleteIsn't he?! Very excited! :)
DeleteAw hes too cute! Loving the new banner to by the way!x
ReplyDeleteThanks Rebecca, yes I'm really pleased with my banner - and the puppy! x
DeleteOh my goodness me he's gorgeous! Great name too. Hope to see some more photos of him soon! x
ReplyDeleteHi Anna, and thanks for following my blog! I'm sure you'll be seeing plenty more pictures of him as soon as we've brought him home...not long to go now, yippee! x
DeleteSo cute! You must be so excited.
ReplyDeleteWe are! Can't wait. :)
DeleteVery sweet, he looks lovely. We are now in week 3 1/2 of our puppy Cookie. and yes she is very lovely, but a lot of hard work, plus lots of disturbed sleep for me!! we have one more week and she can go out for walks which I think will make life a lot easier. I think we were particularly unlucky as she was unwell for the first 10 days or so which was pretty stressful. It is exciting and I don't regret her but life may never be the same again!! Lock up all shoes and slippers and bits of lego!!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the at home pictures.
Hi Tracey, yes I've been wondering how Cookie has been getting on - glad to hear she's better now, it must have been really stressful for you. We are putting a stair gate back on the bottom of the stairs and I've told the boys to keep all lego upstairs - it will be challenging! x
DeleteLove him and if you have kids puppies are no hassle, believe me! We did it the other way round- puppy before babies. In no time he will be toilet trained and such am amazing wee companion for you all, Jxx
ReplyDeleteHi Jo, thanks that's really reassuring, just what I wanted to hear! once he's toilet trained and had all his jabs I'll be really happy, can't wait to take him out exploring with the boys! xx
DeleteOh adorable! I bet you just can't wait to bring him home :)
ReplyDeleteWe are getting ridiculously excited now Polly, though it's great to have this time to prepare, both practically and mentally, for the chaos! :)
DeleteFloyd is a fab name for this oh so super cute pup!! Enjoy lots of happy times with him!! Can't wait to read all about your family adventures together. Love RM2 xx
ReplyDeleteThanks honey! Looking forward to sharing all our fun times with you. Hope you're well RM!! xx
DeleteOh you won't regret it, they bring so much to the house. He is so cute, and what a cool name!! My only advice, is begin how you want to continue. As in don't start habits that will be harder to break when he gets older.......x
ReplyDeleteWe're preparing in much the same way as we did for the kids...reading lots of books! Although we haven't had dogs before we do know a lot of people who have, so are getting lots of tips...firm, fair and consistent, with lots of treats to reward for good behaviour...so a lot like the kids! x
DeleteWhat an absolute sweetie!!! Enjoy your third child : -)
ReplyDeleteThanks Trudy! It will make a change to have a very small furry one that I can't ever send to school! :)
DeleteHe's gorgeous... we got a little Border Terrier a year and a half ago it was hard work at first and i did think oh my gosh what have we done for a few days but now she's such a joy to have around and our children adore her.
ReplyDeleteHave fun
Dee : )
Thanks Dee, it's lovely to hear such positive stories from others who've been in puppy land before us! Rachel :)
DeleteOh my goodness, he is adorable! x
ReplyDeleteHi Col, isn't he?! So excited it's absurd really. Can't wait to get him settled in to our home and family. x
DeleteOh stop, I am so broody for a puppy!!! He is too cute xxxx
ReplyDeleteBroody is definitely the word - I think it's probably going to be nearly as much work as a baby so you have to really want one! I'll let you know how it goes. x
DeleteOh, so cute!!! I am broody for a puppy now (and I am also broody for baby number three, but a puppy is probably easier!) x
ReplyDeleteI'll let you know...I've got a lot of friends who have 3 kids, but with a tiny house like ours a puppy seemed like a better idea...at least it'll never need it's own room! x
DeleteWhat a gorgeous little chap! A dog makes a home. :-)
