We made the most of the last days of the summer break, with lots of lovely day trips out to Bath, Glastonbury, Bristol Harbourside, parks, woods, anywhere but home really.
The long months of winter will be here soon enough, and then we can snuggle up and draw the curtains....
talking of curtains, one of the jobs we finally got around to over the summer was putting up vintage curtains in EVERY ROOM of the house - Yay!! I bought them all on Ebay, and they have been lurking in my fabric cupboard, waiting for F to be in the mood for putting up proper old fashioned curtain track. I can't take nice, styled pictures because all the windows desperately need cleaning, so here are some close ups...
...oh dear, as well as never cleaning my windows, I don't iron!
not a great photo, but it'll be nice to remember the summer light when winter is here...
the boys' room now has vintage Conran robots, yay!
I'm enjoying having some mid-century loveliness in our bedroom...
Hope you're having a good week, whatever you're up to.

Oh Rachel I love your curtains - they are amazing!! Liking your new header too. And great pictures, especially the tongue! x
ReplyDeleteThanks Jen! I love how his tongue matched his t-shirt! x
DeleteOh LOVE the curtains! Yay! YOu have been busy. Well done. xx
ReplyDeleteThanks hun! Well, it was Frank who did the work of putting up the track - I had the fun job of choosing the curtains! x
DeleteTotally love the curtains- they are amazing! And I spy that fab top you bought your boy- it is really great! Lovely to catch up Rachel, Jo xx
ReplyDeleteHi Jo, glad you like the curtains, they're certainly brightening up this grey day. And yes that's the top, he's rarely out of it - it won't fit him for long so I want to make the most of it! xx
DeleteGreat fabric finds! Sure they will all feel lovely and cosy.
ReplyDeleteI had such fun sourcing them, and I made a couple of 'mistakes' which Frank wasn't so keen on, so they're in my fabric cupboard ready to be made into cushions and lampshades - Yay! x
DeleteLovely curtains Rachel ... I love, love the robot ones ... would love them for my little men ... good on you for enjoying the last days of summer ... here's hoping for a lovely autumn ... crisp and dry (not the chip oil) :) ... Bee xx
ReplyDeleteHa ha yes a crisp and dry Autumn is just what we need, but definitely not the chip oil! I love those Robots too, they're very 80s with their primary colours and funky break dancing poses - the boys are very pleased, they just had a boring black-out blind before! x
DeleteLove, love, love the robots they are great. Reminds me I have curtains to make too. Sarah x
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah, glad you like them - I must admit I've never made curtains myself, I have great fun finding vintage ones - and the ones that don't fit my windows can be cut up and made into all kinds of fabulous things! x
DeleteHello Rachel,
ReplyDeletePC breaks are important. I think I might stop using the computer over the weekend. Or at least one day during the week.
Your patterns ever throw me back to my childhood. The purple pattern is pretty!
x
Lilli
Hi Lilli, yes time away from the PC is definitely necessary for keeping a sense of balance. The purple flowers are a Swedish fabric, I have bits in other colourways too - I love it! x
DeleteLove the patterns in your curtains. Must make such an amazing difference to your house. I can't rush curtains either, 5+ years in our house and still no curtains in the Sitting Room!!
ReplyDeleteHi Trudy, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who takes my time with these things! I am enjoying the patterns in every room, especially now the days are getting more autumnal and the evenings are darker. x
DeleteGlad you are getting out and about! Love the curtains! Ada :)
ReplyDeleteThanks love, glad you like them! x
DeleteGreat curtains! High 5!!! The blue ones are simply fab, and those Conran robots - Oh my! Wonderful. Well done you!
ReplyDeleteEllie x
ps. What's an iron?
Hi Ellie, glad you appreciate my vintage curtain goodness! One of the proudest moments of my life was when Max was little, and he came running up to me at a playgroup, clutching a toy iron(?!) saying 'look Mummy, a boat'! I did eventually buy an iron, but only because we got bought some Hama beads, and they're really fun! xx
DeleteFriend: 'Will the sound of the hoover bother your baby?' (My eldest was 10 months old at the time).
DeleteMe: 'Um....' (In the whole of that 10 months, I had not used a hoover. Ahem.)
Rachel
ha ha I love you Rach! Rufus is terrified of the sound of the hoover cause it's such a rare occurence in our house! x
DeleteYour boy has the most gorgeous eyelashes! (and a fab blue tongue). X
ReplyDeleteI know, if I had their eyelashes (his brother's are amazing too) I'd never need to buy mascara again! x
DeleteGorgeous curtains, I love the robots - perfect for a boys room! great pictures too. xx
ReplyDeleteHi Caroline, I was so chuffed to get those robots - I've got a nice set of jungle curtains put away for the boys' room too, which are a bit thicker for winter - vintage curtain joy going on here! x
DeleteThose are amazing curtains and a pretty amazing blue tongue too!
ReplyDeleteHi Emma, thanks for reading and commenting! Yes his tongue's quite a good match for all the blue in the curtains! :)
DeleteI love your curtains, cant decide if I like the flowery ones or the robots the best. Totally fab and have brightened up my day :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to have brightened your day, that's the great thing about buying curtains for every room - I don't have t ochoose just one favourite pattern! x
DeleteYour curtains look amazing! Lucky boys, those robots are fab! x
